What I was going to say…

Nothing is about all I can muster at the moment. The Australian wildfires are simultaneously the one thing on my mind and the one thing I’m refusing to think about.

I was working on a list of resources for composting in New York but I am experiencing a bit of a collapse at the moment. What does composting matter if the world is on fire?

“Blood red sky” is a phrase I’ve been reading in news headlines for days. It is alarming but the structures for collective action to be taken on this crisis do not exist, and if we do not build such structures now, we will remain unable to act decisively in fast-unraveling ecosystems. The urgency of our times demands that the comfortable shake themselves out of passivity. I want to remain activated and engaged but I’m also feeling a lot of sorrow that is causing me to move more slowly. We need more champions, and that’s all I have to say.

  1. I feel the same way, it’s overwhelming. People around the world need to recognize that there ARE things we can do, more people need to pay attention and take action, now.

  2. Last year the children went on strike. Perhaps it’s time for adults to act?
